Help For Small Business Owners: Use Business Security Systems For Theft Reduction

By Mark Mahaffey

If you are having a problem with inventory loss due to theft, consider a low-tech business security system idea that just might save you money. Decide which of your merchandise is the most valuable and vulnerable to being stolen, and move these items to the very middle of the store.

The reason you should do this is because if a crook wants to steal them, the job becomes a little harder and riskier. This is because he would have to walk through the store and into a prominent place to get to the items, and this raises the chances that he will be seen.

Keep your eyes and ears open for other low-tech ideas for protecting your assets. Ask other retailers what some of their tips and trick are, and share what you do with them. In fact, you may want to start a monthly meeting of other retail business owners in your area, so that you can help and encourage each other.

If you are interested in a higher tech idea for business security system protection, consider installing an alarm system. With an alarm system, you can set up the system to alert you in case someone tries to break into your store. For example, you can install alarms on the doors and windows.

The way this works is as follows: when a burglar opens or breaks into a door or window, the sensors send an alert to your monitoring company. There is also an alarm that will sound throughout the store itself, so that the thief can hear it.

That monitoring company can then notify the authorities and send help to your store to arrest the burglar. And if you want even more security, consider installing motion activated security cameras, which will begin recording the burglars activity when he moves around inside or outside your store!
